You’re Gonna Be Living in a Van Down by the River!

You do not have to worry about “staying in a van down by the river” during French Dip 2009, instead you will be staying at the AmericInn. There you will be hosted backstage in your “green room” until the show begins. To compliment your stay there will be plenty of amenities, which include a free continental breakfast, pool, work-out facilities, high speed wireless internet, and facilities for those with special needs. Since we are the city that never sleeps, you will find food and entertainment located in the two large meeting spaces downstairs. There you will be able to boogie with the two “Wild and Crazy Guys” all night long.

More importantly the hotel is located on the same side of highway 25 and within walking distance to K-Mart, a convenience store and restaurants. Restaurants which are in walking distance include Perkins, Kernel restaurant, Wendy’s, and Arby’s.

Coffee Talk

Welcome to the Applied Arts building. Here you will be conducting all of your busi- ness for the boardroom. The room is setup with stadium seating and full table work- spaces. Wireless and projector capabilities are provided to keep the flow of the business meeting running as smooth as possible.

Breakout meeting rooms for sessions out- side the boardroom will be in close proximity. During the time spent in the boardroom you may feel parched after all of the discussion, so bottled water and the option of flavor packets will be provided.

Subshack

One of the many prides of New York is the comedic relief stemming from Saturday Night Live. Another is the food. Upon arriving in Menomonie on Friday April 17, a list of local food vendors will be provided for a self selected dinner. Breakfast will be provided by AmericInn on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Saturday’s Lunch will include the delegate’s choice of croissant sandwiches or a veggie pita. In addition, it will include chips, an apple, a cookie, a pickle spear and a choice of milk or soda.

We would like to take you out to dinner before the SNL show really begins on Sat- urday night. That being said, the headliner meal of the conference is the Saturday Night Leadership dinner. All conference attendees will start off with a berry salad. The main course will consist of either chicken boursin or prime rib. The main course will also include garlic mashed potatoes and a fresh seasonal vegetable. In the event that chicken boursin or prime rib isn’t your fancy we will be offering a greek vegetar- ian pasta. To put the final laugh on the evening, a delightful dessert will be present.

Both Saturday’s lunch and dinner will be held inside the Terrace Café of the Me- morial Student Center. However, the dinner atmosphere will mirror that of a New York pub and each guest at dinner will find their spot by locating their personalized cow- bell. The theme of SNL will be finished with pictures of SNL cast members adorning the walls.

Night at the Roxbury

Hospitality is a key part of every conference including the up and coming French Dip 2009. The hospitality room will be located on the first floor of the AmericInn, which is located near the front lobby. The hospitality room will be open both Friday and Sat- urday nights from the time the delegates return to the hotel until 1 AM.

On Friday and Saturday night the delegates will have many food choice options including: pizza, subs, chips, popcorn, pretzels, cookies, soda and water. But that’s not it! Just like New York City, there will be a multitude of activities for conference delegates such as board games and Guitar Hero.

Quite fittingly, French Dip 2009 will be tak- ing place during Family Weekend at UW-Stout and the French Dip conference attendees, therefore, have an exciting opportunity to take advantage of the activities on campus. Such activities for Saturday night include Fashion without Fabric, campus wide entertainment, and the spring play.

Fashion without Fabric is a fashion show executed by freshmen art students who are enrolled in the 3D design class. In this class, students are given the project of constructing a full piece of clothing without using any fabric. This show is very exciting and sold out nearly every year. If delegates are interested in seeing the show, we will be requesting the required ticket fee at the WURHA conference as this event is not covered in the cost per delegate because it is optional.

The spring play is directed by UW-Stout’s very own Performing Arts Director, Paul Callenberg, and will make those on Broadway blush. Like the Fashion without Fabric show, delegates who wish to attend this event will be asked to pay at the WURHA conference so we can get tickets.

Upon arrival, delegates will also be given a listing of even more events that will be occurring on campus. More and more events are added to Family Weekend each year, so there will definitely be a multitude of activities for which delegates can par- take. Welcome to the city that never sleeps!

Our limousines are awaiting your arrival! The transportation chair will be working in conjunction with the UW-Stout Fleet Vehicle service and volunteer chair to line up state authorized drivers to ensure the safety of your travels.

The line of vehicles used for the conference will include two mini-vans and a handi- cap accessible vehicle if needed. Delegates will enjoy comedy tracks to and from the hotel to make the ride more enjoyable. Transportation will be provided until 1 AM on both Friday and Saturday nights (or until all delegates are at the hotel). Drivers will be able to be contacted by the cell phone numbers posted in the delegate binder. Due to limited parking on campus, we ask that you use the transportation services that will be provided to you. Just waive your hand and call, “Taxi” and we’ll take you to your destination!
